A Tribe Called Quest Pay Tribute To Phife Dawg On SNL

Alongside host Dave Chappelle, A Tribe Called Quest served as musical guest on the latest episode of Saturday Night Love. The surviving members of the seminal hip-hop group hit the stage for a rare live performance behind their first album in nearly two decades, We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service. "We are all one. We are the people," Q-Tip announced before he and Jarobi White launched into "We The People…," an acidic new track from their sixth studio album, while Ali Shaheed Muhammad held down the 1s and 2s. Midway through the track, Phife's verse was announced with a flag unfurled onstage adorned with his face, which Q-Tip and Jarobi started rapping to for the rest of the song. For their second performance, Tribe performed "The Space Program," the opening track from their new album. On the final coda of the track, Busta Rhymes and Consequence, who contribute throughout the new LP, joined Tip and the gang on stage, closing things off with a group hug.
